If you’re writing about behavioural contracting, commitment devices, or the economics of accountability, we want you to get the facts right. Everything below is on-the-record.
Duel is a binding commitment contract platform built in New Zealand. Players sign 14-, 30-, or 90-day performance contracts against themselves or a rival, with real money held in third-party escrow. Every passed day returns a slice of the stake; every missed day forfeits it. Outset Limited is a facilitator and escrow agent — not a custodian of player funds — and is incorporated in New Zealand.
Name:Duel. Always title-cased. Never “DUEL,” “duel.io,” or “The Duel App.”
Wordmark: set in Fraunces (serif, optical-size 144, SOFT axis elevated). The logotype lives on dark by default; light-mode variant available.
Palette: accent is a cyan-leaning blue in the neighbourhood of oklch(0.72 0.15 215). Risk red is oklch(0.65 0.22 25). Dark surface is #07070A.
Voice:direct, plain, unsentimental. Never gamified. We don’t talk about “crushing goals” or “streaks.” We talk about consequence and money on the line.
A full press kit (logo SVG/PNG at multiple sizes, screenshots, founder headshots) is available on request — we send it personalised with the article context so we know what you need.
